The path loss calculator provides a calculation of both the attenuation of the transmitted signal but also the loss due to spherical spreading. The calculation of path loss is typically used in a communications path link analysis. Since the calculation assumes spherical spreading, any gain at either the transmitting or receiving antenna should be added to the result of the path loss for the link analysis. The calculator requires the input of both the carrier frequency in Megahertz and also the communications path distance in miles between the transmitting and receiving antenna. The result from the calculation will be the total path loss in dB. Enter all values in either fractional integer or exponent notation (2.34, 1.2e-3, etc).
